Body: Welcome, We are gathered here to celebrate the life of Debbie Griffin. Debbie’s love for you, her family and friends, goes on unmatched except for her love for God. "Because of Jesus, we have the assurance that whatever disturbs us, disturbs God more. Whatever grief we feel, God feels more. And whatever we long for, God longs for more." (p. 92) (Heaven- R. Alcorn) The Bible says that for those in Christ, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Prayer. “Father God, you promised to help us in our time of need. Send your tender mercies to this entire family here today. Shower them with strength from your Holy Spirit. Encourage them with your promises. Guide us today as we reflect upon Debbie's life and bring honor to you. Give us eyes of faith so that we can see the eternal blessing that is now Hers. Strengthen us with hope today and always. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.” Perhaps the greatest song ever written was a song recorded in God’s Word. It was a favorite of the Old Testament and a favorite of the early church as well. It continues to be a favorite to this day. It’s a song – a psalm – written by a shepherd boy and King, David. Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Debbie had her own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. By His grace we (like Debbie) can also have our own personal relationship with Him and live forever in His presence. It is not by works or deeds that we receive eternal life, but by the works of Jesus Christ. Christ suffered, He died and arose from the grave so that **we** shall live… forever. All we must do is to receive by faith this gift from God! And praise God, Debbie knew this and accepted this precious gift that God has offered each one of His children and that includes You and Me. No matter the sin or situation, God is waiting with open arms to receive you into His family. This my friends is the Good News! Debbie knew it and accepted it. How about you? I’m Free Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has laid; you see. I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Task left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me free. We are all here remembering Debbie who touched our lives so deeply. And now we move on carrying her memories with us. Fond memories and changed hearts. Before we finish, I would like to share this scripture with you. Job 19 25-27-"But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has gone, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!” Rest in peace Debbie, your work here was beautiful! Father God, we have gathered here today to remember and honor the precious life of Debbie Griffin. We are all here to say goodbye one last time and celebrate a selfless, serving, and loving life lived here on earth. We thank You for each precious moment and memory that we have had with her. Her life has touched so many in so many ways. We pray that your peace and presence will be upon us, and we pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen. Today we honor a woman whose life was filled with love and service. Debbie touched countless lives with her quiet kindness, gentle strength, and unwavering servant’s heart. Debbie continually gave without expecting anything in return. Her life was a witness of kindness. Debbie never sought the limelight…but our lives have become richer and more meaningful for having known her. While our hearts ache, we celebrate a legacy of goodness that will live on in every person she encouraged and loved.
